Dealing with newborns ‘purple’ crying
Research has proven it’s a global phenomenon: newborn babies cry – sometimes, for no reason.
These bouts of fussiness often happen in the late afternoon or evening – just when parents feel they need a break.
A new program describes this time as “the period of purple crying.”
As frustrating as it is, parents need to know — it won’t last forever.

McMaster’s involvement in this program initially began as a research study, with 400 new moms participating.
The program will be tweaked, based on feedback from those families involved.
