Crib danger rules
Tuesday, new rules take effect south of the border for drop-side cribs.
The cribs are banned in the U.S. because experts say malfunctioning hardware or assembly problems can cause the drop-side rail to detach and create a gap between the rail and the mattress where babies can get stuck and suffocate.
The cribs have been linked to dozens of infant deaths over the past decade.
Health Canada is taking public concerns into account when it finalizes a proposed amendment to the cribs and cradles regulation.
