HAPPENING NOW:
Concussion legislation proposed
A Liberal backbencher from B.C. is proposing new legislation she says will help prevent concussions in young athletes.
Moira Stilwell’s private member’s bill would make it law to remove a young player from the game if a concussion is suspected.
It would also bar the athlete from returning to the sport until a doctor approves.
She says her bill recognizes that most sport-related head injuries occur in athletes under the age of 20, and the frequency of these injuries is increasing.
