Concerns about acetaminophen

If you’re one to reach for the acetaminophen whenever you have a headache, you may want to be careful.

Researchers in Scotland say taking just a little too much of the pain reliever over time may be worse for you than taking one overdose.

The researchers looked at 663 people who were admitted to a hospital between 1992 and 2008 with acetaminophen-induced liver problems.

They found those who took too much of the drug over a period of time were more likely to have liver and brain problems than people who took one big overdose.

Acetaminophen is one of the most commonly used drugs in Canada.
