Two new studies are raising questions about whether bacteria may cause some forms of colon cancers.

High levels of fuso-bacterium have been found in the tumours of people with colon cancer.

But researchers can’t tell if it caused the cancers, or was present as a result of them.

The idea that infections may trigger some cancers is gaining ground in some scientific circles.

But others warn it’s still too early to pinpoint specific bacteria without further testing.
