A daily cocktail or two could help women prevent bone loss.
A study followed a group of young post-menopausal women who were regular drinkers.
When the women cut out alcohol for just two weeks, they showed an increase in bone turnover, a risk factor for osteoporosis.
However, when they resumed their normal drinking habits, bone turnover rates returned to previous levels less than a day later.
