HAPPENING NOW:

Chickenpox vaccine

When it comes to preventing chickenpox later in life…. doctors are now saying that two shots are better than one.

The Canadian Pediatric Society says some children with just a single dose of the chickenpox vaccine could lose immunity and get the illness as adults.

It’s now recommending that children get two doses, the first between 12 and 18 months of age, and again between the ages of four and six.

Doctors say in some provinces, there has been an 84% drop in the number of hospitalizations from chickenpox since the vaccine became available a decade ago.
