Celebrate International Women’s Day with these 3 beverages from LCBO

Since the alcohol industry is typically male-dominated, a beverage and hospitality expert is highlighting trailblazing women in the field ahead of International Women’s Day on March 8.
Christina Veira joined Annette Hamm on Morning Live to share three of many beverages sold at the LCBO that were created by women.
Macallan 12 Year Old Double Cask
Created by Master Whisky Maker Kirsteen Campbell, the Macallan 12 Year Old Double Cask is the perfect addition to cocktails.
This scotch whisky is matured in a mixture of American oak and European sherry oak for a balanced profile of dried fruit and light oak spice. It is creamy with honeyed flavours carrying marmalade and baking spices followed by a fruity finish that is dominated by Sultana.
Flat Rock Pinot Noir
This elegant pinot noir was produced by Allison Findlay, a winemaker at Flat Rock Cellars in Jordan.
This red wine has flavours of berry preserves, herbs, blood orange and watermelon. It pairs well with grilled salmon or veal in a red-wine reduction.
Wellington Brewery Upside IPA
This IPA was created by Robyn Weeks, a brewer at Wellington Brewery in Guelph.
Upside is brewed in the east coast IPA style, and has flavours of tropical fruit, grapefruit, lime and toasted malt. Hops provide citrus and peach aromas, with moderate bitterness that lingers on a clean finish.
Ontarians can make an impactful choice this March and choose drinks from these women-owned and women-led brands at the LCBO.
The LCBO is also opening the door for women of all backgrounds to thrive and advance in the beverage alcohol industry with its Spirit of Inclusion Initiative. The program aims to eliminate barriers for marginalized women through mentorships, scholarships and bursaries.
