Stroke is sometimes called “the silent killer.” But until recently, doctors didn’t realize just how quiet this killer can be.

A team of researchers at McMaster University went looking for signs of stroke by listening to the beating of the human heart. And what they heard has given them new insight into strokes, and how to prevent them.
