Cancer communication

A cancer diagnosis instantly sends a person into a new realm of health care and specialists, but when the surgery and the treatment and the follow-ups come to an end, how does a cancer survivor transition back to the family physician?
That is the focus of a study now underway in Hamilton. Funded by the Canadian partnership against cancer, the $825 million grant will allow researchers to study and design a plan to better link general practitioners with cancer centre experts.
The study has a three-year time frame. It will conclude with a workable integration plan to be adopted nationwide.
