Blood sugar and the brain

Higher blood sugar levels may have an impact on the brain, even among those who don’t have diabetes.

Previous studies have shown that type two diabetes increases the risk of brain shrinkage that’s common with aging and dementia.

However, Australian scientists say even people with blood sugar levels at the upper end of the normal range are at risk.

Data shows that these patients are more likely to have a loss in brain volume in the areas linked to memory and cognitive skills.
