HAPPENING NOW:
Barrie doctor studying liberation therapy
A doctor in Barrie is starting his own study of Multiple Sclerosis patients opting to undergo liberation treatment.
Cardiovascular surgeon, Dr. Sandy McDonald hopes to recruit 250 patients for his study.
It will use ultrasound imaging to assess the results of the procedure that unblocks neck veins.
The study will also look at patient’s quality of life before and after the procedure.
So far liberation treatment has not been approved in Canada but many MS patients are travelling to other countries to have it done.
