Back to school routines

With school just a few weeks away it’s time to transition your little ones back to an early bedtime.
Most kids and teens have a pretty relaxed sleep schedule in the summer and if they don’t get back on track before Labour Day, they’re in for a rude awakening on the first day of school.
Without preparation, the first day of school can be a shock to the system.
Sleep Pyschologist, Kimberly Cote, says the body needs time to adjust to a new schedule.
Bedtime should be decided based on how many hours of sleep a child or teen needs. Depending on age that’s anywhere from 8 to 12 hours a night.
Waking up on time is equally important. Cote says during the school year, kids should wake up at the same time, even on weekends so their sleep patterns aren’t disrupted.
