HAPPENING NOW:
Assisted dying bill approved by MP’s

MP’s send the Trudeau government’s controversial assisted dying bill to Senate as the C14 deadline looms.
Four Liberal MP’s joined most Conservatives and all three other parties in voting against the federal government’s assisted dying bill. But the controversial legislation still sailed through the House of Commons on Tuesday by a vote of 186-137. Health Minister Jane Philpott declared it an historic day, and thanked MP’s for transforming end-of-life care options for Canadians.
But the bill still has to go through the Senate, and it’s unlikely to become law by the Supreme Court-imposed deadline on Monday.
