Ad Hoc Abstract showcases 4 Hamilton artists’ work at Paul Elia Studio Gallery

Art can be anything you want it to be, and this weekend four Hamilton based female artists are showcasing their work at Ad Hoc Abstract at Paul Elia Studio Gallery.

Nancy Benoy is an artist who lets colour drives her. She started painting with movement, texture and chaos, then slowly started adding lines, and now she paints with full on control to make it very graphic. Nancy wants to create a small footprint, so she uses canvas paper and leftover paints. She wants her art to add a pop of joy and happiness to your life.

Natasja Bischoff is an artist who paints with black and white. Her pieces are a mix of painting and drawing and she adds 3D over 2D to create something out of nothing.

Stephanie Seagram likes to make marks on a surface that comes from a deep place of wanting to make and create. She has taken her 30 year motif made from an exploration of pushing forward and creates her work by mixing nature and photography to create a collage of mixed media. She wants you to look at her work and and contemplate things only you can think about.

Tania Lacaria‘s art explores the concept of paradox. Her collection at the show is inspired by baskets and that we can hold onto certain things, while also being able to let go.

At the Ad Hoc Abstract show there is also an art wall that the community can collaborate on. For a $40 or $75 donation you can take home a piece of the wall and the money will help Food4Kids.

The show opens this Friday, May. 26th from 7-10pm, and runs until June 9th.
