Abitibi Bowater posts loss
A weak dollar and special items more than offset profit at Abitibi Bowater.
The Montreal paper and timber producer reports a third-quarter loss of $44 million.
It would have been $52 million in the red if it weren’t for $96 million worth of special items; most for a non-cash charge related to currency translation.
Revenue was just over $1 billion in the quarter.
