Wine expert Angela Aiello joins us for a lesson in how to decant red wine featuring wines from Washington State.  Here are Angela’s tips on how to properly decant red wine:

Step #1 – Sit your wine bottle upright 24 hours before serving (if the wine is old). This will allow the sediment to settle to the bottom of the bottle if there happens to be any.
Step #2 – Wash and Rinse your Decanter so that is is free of any residue and looks shiny and clean. Feel free to rinse the decanter with a wine wash before decanting as well.
Step #3 – Choose the Proper Decanter – have a few to choose from in your home. Riedel makes some great ones.
Step #4 – Open & Prep your bottle. Clean the bottle, remove the foil and uncork your wine.
Step #5 – Slowly pour wine into the decanter – pour your wine at a 45 degree angle slowly and with care
Step #6 – Swirl and pour your wine into the proper glass, smell the aromas and enjoy your wine
