Maps to the Stars

Maps to the Stars is a dramatic film from Canadian director David Cronenberg. The film, which premiered in competition at this year’s Cannes Film Festival, stars Mia Wasikowska, John Cusack, Robert Pattinson, Olivia Williams, Sarah Gadon, Evan Bird, and Julianne Moore, who won the award for Best Actress at the festival.
With this tale of a secret-filled Hollywood family on the verge of implosion, award-winning director David Cronenberg forges both a wicked social satire and a very human ghost story from our celebrity-obsessed culture. MAPS TO THE STARS tours the seductive allure and the tender, darkly comic underbelly of contemporary success.
Screenwriter Bruce Wagner, known for his scripts centered around the Hollywood entertainment industry, knew when he wrote Maps to the Stars that he wanted Cronenberg to direct saying, “With its themes of the dark side of ambition and fame, I felt only David could make this movie.” And Cronenberg was up to the task. “It’s a story that is really of the moment and it also ferociously attacks the moment we are living in, culturally, pop-culturally, technologically and in every way, which I really admire. I think that is Bruce’s strength. He is not afraid,” he explains. “The force of Bruce’s script was so compelling and so charismatic, I felt I had to do it.”
