Man wanted, police lay more charges in Halton auto theft case

Halton police have laid additional charges in connection with an auto theft investigation.

Last November, officers began looking into two suspects believed to be trafficking stolen vehicles out of a warehouse in Burlington.

Investigators say the vehicles were stolen throughout the Greater Toronto Area and loaded onto shipping containers bound for Dubai.

On Feb. 14, police arrested 39-year-old Suleiman Alhamarneh and 27-year-old Amro Alkiswani of Mississauga.

They were both charged with 14 counts of trafficking in stolen property over $5,000, possession of stolen property over $5,000 and possession of automobile master key.

Further investigation led to an additional charge of fraud over $5,000 against Alhamarneh, while 47-year-old Mohamed Sous of Etobicoke who is believed to have fled the country is wanted for 21 forged document counts.

So far, police have recovered 45 stolen vehicles valued at roughly $3 million.
