Man wanted in Niagara Falls attack

Niagara Regional Police are searching for a suspect in a violent attack that sent a woman to hospital.

Officers were called to the area of Lyons Creek Rd. and Sodom Rd. around 12:30 p.m. Monday. They found a woman fighting for her life and had to be airlifted to hospital and remains in critical condition. Police say she was attacked with a knife.

27-year-old Joseph Caligiuri, from Niagara Falls is wanted for attempted murder. He is described as 5’9″ with a thin build and dark hair.

Police say he and the victim knew each other.

The Jeep Wrangler that Caligiuri was believed to have been driving following the attack was found Monday night in Grimsby.

Caligiuri is considered to be armed and dangerous. Anyone who sees him is asked to call police.
