A Port Colborne man is facing several charges after he made one wrong decision after another earlier this week.

Niagara police say they responded to a threats call around 7 p.m. at a bar near Main Street West and King Street in Port Colborne Thursday.

When they pulled up, the officers say they spotted the man throwing a .22 Cooey bolt-action rifle into his backseat before getting behind the wheel, putting the car in reverse and crashing into another parked vehicle.

There were no injuries, and the man was arrested on the spot.

Charged is Cory Elliot, 40, of Port Colborne. He’s facing seven different charges, including possession of a weapon, impaired operation and uttering threats.

According to the police report, Elliot did not possess a firearms license.

Anyone with additional information on this incident is asked to contact investigators by phoning 905-688-4111.

Elliot is scheduled to have a bail hearing at a St. Catharines courthouse on May 24.
