Man in 90s with life-threatening burns after fire in Waterdown home

Hamilton police say a man in his 90s was taken to hospital with life-threatening burns following a fire inside of a home in Waterdown.
Emergency crews responded to the house on Niska Dr. shortly before 11 a.m. for reports of a person with severe burns.
Firefighters found the elderly man conscious with 80 per cent of his body burned, as well as another man in the home.

Police say the man in his 90s is in life-threatening condition, while the other man is in non-life-threatening condition.
While it appears to be accidental, the Hamilton Fire Department says the cause of the blaze in the living room and the man’s burns are unknown at this time.
There is no damage to the outside of the home as a result of the fire.
