Man drove through park ‘dangerously’ while evading police: Halton

Halton police say a man managed to rack up 23 different charges after he fled the scene of a crash and then tried to evade arrest by driving through a city park.
On March 8, authorities were responding to a single-vehicle car accident near Sherwood Forest Park in Burlington on Fairview Street.
Immediately upon their arrival, a blue Honda took off from the scene — heading into the park.
A police report says that officers witnessed the vehicle “driving dangerously through the park grounds, on walkways and pathways, in an effort to evade police.”
Investigators were able to track the driver down to the intersection of New Street and Appleby Line, where they safely stopped the vehicle and took one man into custody.
No one was injured during the incident but two police cruisers sustained minor damage.
Nikolas Claros, 37, of no fixed address has been charged with the following:
- Disobeying Order of Court
- Flight from Peace Officer
- Operation while Impaired – Alcohol and Drugs
- Possession of Automobile Master Key
- Possession of Break in Instruments
- Dangerous Operation of Motor Vehicle
- Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5000
- Unauthorized Possession of Weapon
- Fail to Comply with Probation Order (2 Counts)
- Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5000 (2 Counts)
- Possession Schedule 1 Substance – Methamphetamines, Cocaine, and Fentanyl (3 Counts)
- Operation while prohibited (7 Counts)
- Fail to remain
- Drive while under suspension (2 Counts)
Claros remains in custody and is pending a bail hearing.
