Man charged after hit-and-run attempt involving motorcyclist on Hamilton Mountain

A 30-year-old man is facing charges after trying to flee the scene of a crash involving a motorcyclist on Hamilton Mountain Sunday evening.

It happened around 7:15 p.m. in the area of Garth Street and Darlington Drive.

Hamilton police say a 72-year-old man was driving a motorcycle southbound on Garth Street when he was struck by a black 2008 Mazda 3 sedan that was travelling northbound in the southbound lanes.

Paramedics transported the motorcyclist to hospital in serious but stable condition.

Investigators say the driver of the Mazda attempted to leave the scene before police arrested him.

He has been charged with dangerous operation and driving while under suspension.

All roads in the area have since reopened.
