Man arrested in Sunday night shooting in Welland

Niagara police have arrested a Port Colborne man in what they say was a targeted shooting Sunday evening in Welland.

Officers arrived at 7:30 p.m. to a home in the area around McAlpine Avenue and Lincoln Street for reports of a shooting.

Investigation confirmed that a man had fired multiple gunshots at the residence.

Police say there were no injuries.

Jacob O’Neal, 36, was arrested and charged with eight offences, including unauthorized possession of a firearm, discharging a firearm at a place in a reckless manner and two counts of breach of probation.

According to Niagara police, the victim and suspect are known to each other.

Residents of the neighbourhood where this took place told CHCH News on Monday the community is nervous.
