Man arrested after 2 Halton cops attacked and injured in Ottawa

Police in Ottawa have arrested a 25-year-old man after two Halton police officers were attacked and injured on Sunday.
Ottawa’s police service responded to calls of an assault on York Street shortly before 2 a.m. and found two injured men. Officers say both men were taken to hospital with “serious injuries.”
A statement from Burlington MP and Leader of the Government in the House of Commons Karina Gould says the officers came to Ottawa to participate in the National Police and Peace Officers’ Memorial Day.

Halton police released a statement Tuesday morning, calling the attack “violent, unprovoked and cowardly.”
The statement also says that Ottawa Police Service will be providing updates about this investigation.

Mikkhul Milord of Ottawa is facing charges for two counts of aggravated assault in relation to this incident.
Ottawa Police Service says the two Halton police officers were not wearing anything to identify their profession at the time of the incident.
