Man, 51, dead after workplace incident at National Steel Car: police

Hamilton police say a 51-year-old man is dead following a workplace incident at National Steel Car.

Emergency crews responded to the manufacturer on Kenilworth Ave. North shortly before 8 p.m. Monday.

A CHCH News freelancer said a two ton steel plate fell onto a worker. Paramedics then brought the man without vital signs to a local trauma centre.

The Ministry of Labour is investigating.

National Steel Car said in a Facebook post late Monday night that the night shift for June 6 and the day shift for June 7 are cancelled.
