Man, 45, dies of injuries after J.C. Beemer Park assault in Hamilton

Hamilton police say a 45-year-old has died of his injuries following a violent assault at J.C. Beemer Park on Thursday.

With permission of the family, police have identified the homicide victim as Antonio Beltrano of Hamilton.

Officers received reports shortly before 9:30 a.m. of a physical altercation between two people at the park located at 68 Victoria Ave. North.

Emergency crews found Beltrano in life-threatening condition and immediately began life-saving measures.

Within an hour of the incident, investigators found the suspect and arrested him in the area of King St. East and Emerald St. South.

A 37-year-old Hamilton man, Craig Brooks, has had an aggravated assault charge upgraded to second-degree murder.
