Details
Textures Craftworks is celebrating a special anniversary on Saturday, July 8, 2023, a day to mark 40 creative years of local artists and artisans working together to have a shop of their own.
With the store’s beginnings dating back to 1983, and founded by a core group of creative women, there is a lot to celebrate as this artisan collective with diverse talents has shown. The collective is creative in both their arts and in the running of their business. Weathering the many storms and changes in the landscape that any business faces over the years, including enduring a summer shut-down of Locke Street for a complete reconstruction, and then facing – and surviving – a pandemic without online sales to fall back on, they have come through with bells on.
We have invited her Worship, Mayor Andrea Horwath, to Textures Craftworks on July 8 at 1 PM as we celebrate this achievement. If she is able to attend, it is our hope that she will share a few words of congratulations while speaking to the importance of small business, women in business, local support, community engagement, and the arts…all things that truly make the City of Hamilton such a wonderful place in which to live and grow.
We are also sending out press releases to local media and will be heavily promoting the event on social media.
