Hamilton Civic Museums is hosting a two-day workshop about the historic art of floorcloth painting and design. Join expert artist and teacher, Lori LeMare, the president of Lori LeMare Studio Inc., who will lead participants through the design and creation of their own, customized 2’ x 4’ floorcloth sampler. Each student will learn methods in canvas preparation, glazing, complex stenciling and canvas protection while creating their own cloth to take home. A tour of Dundurn Castle with a focus on decorative painting and the work Lori has done at the site is included.
Lori’s business specializes in the restoration of decorative painting for historic sites. Lori has done work for a variety of historical and cultural sites including The Colonial Building in Newfoundland, Dundurn Castle, Whitehern Historic House, Battlefield House, Castle Kilbride, The Toronto Club, Spadina House and Casa Loma. She teaches at Willowbank School of Restoration Arts and is a member of the Canadian Association of Heritage Professionals.
