Investigation launched into ‘suspicious’ house fire in Pelham

Niagara police and the Ontario Fire Marshal are investigating after a “suspicious” house fire in Pelham sent one person to hospital early Thursday morning.
Pelham Fire Services were called to the home on Mayfair Avenue around 12:11 a.m. and were able to successfully extinguish the flames.
The damages caused by the fire to both the home and a parked car on the property are estimated to be $700,000.
Emergency responders say a female patient was assessed at the scene and taken to hospital for further assessment.
Police have not disclosed if there were any other occupants in the house at the time of the incident.
An investigation into the fire is active and ongoing by both police and the Office of the Ontario Fire Marshal.
