Investigation continues at home in Wainfleet

A home in Wainfleet that has been the target of a comprehensive search this week has been confirmed as a homicide investigation.

Over the last few days police forensics officers have been searching the property on 50843 O’Reilly’s Road, and neighbours are shocked this is happening in their area.

“Well I live in a nice quiet area and I’m wondering why is Toronto here.  I like where I am, but I’m curious, very curious.” says Rick Lecompte.

Toronto police have taken the lead on the investigation.  The case has been connected to a missing Toronto man.

The forensics team has been here for 4 days now, searching, and the lead investigator said they are starting to find “things” in the backyard.

Police did not confirm where they were looking in the house or where they were finding anything, but earlier today they did pull the forensics van out to the back, and camera flashes were flickering from the garage.

Forensics expects to finish the home search either by tomorrow at the latest, but police say they will not comment further until the weekend.
