Hockey players discuss mental health at event in Hamilton

Young hockey players, their coaches and families gathered for Mental Health Over Hockey day at Wentworth Arenas in Hamilton on Saturday.

Innovate Hockey Development hosted the event which featured keynote speaker Brady Leavold from Mental Health Hockey and Puck Support.

Leavold is a retired professional hockey player who struggles with mental health and substance abuse issues stemming from early childhood trauma.

He shares his story to raise awareness about mental health.

All proceeds from the event were split between Leavold’s B Leav Hockey and a local Hamilton hockey fund.
