Heavy rainfall, strong winds expected for Hamilton, Halton, Niagara

A special weather statement remains in effect Friday morning for Hamilton, Halton and Niagara as gusting winds and heavy rainfall continue.
Environment Canada says an additional 10 to 15 millimeters of rain is estimated to fall in the morning, tapering off to showers closer to noon.
Residents can also see strong northwesterly winds reaching gusts of 70 to 80 km/hr. The wind is expected to ease Friday evening as the low pressure system departs.

Strong winds may toss loose objects or break tree branches. There is also the possibility of utility outages.
This follows a warning the federal weather agency sent out Thursday night regarding a risk for a thunderstorm, heavy wind and some localized flash flooding.
Friday morning’s rain brings total rainfall amounts to 50 milimeters in some areas.
Residents are encouraged to regularly check Environment Canada for weather updates.
