Heat warning continues for Hamilton, Halton, Niagara

A heat warning remains in effect for Hamilton and parts of Halton and Niagara regions, as temperatures could rise above 30 Celsius, Environment Canada reports.

Temperatures are expected to be a minimum of 18 Celsius to a maximum of 32 Celsius with humidex values of 37 to 40.

The areas near the lakes could be slightly cooler than regions further inland.

Hot and humid air can also bring deteriorating air quality, resulting in the Air Quality Health Index approaching the high risk category.

Environment Canada says vulnerable people are at a higher risk of heat-related illnesses.

This includes young children, pregnant women, older adults, people with chronic illnesses and those who work or exercise outside.
