‘Heartbreaking’: fishing bridge at Valens Lake ravaged by fire
The Hamilton Conservation Authority (HCA) says the fishing bridge at Valens Lake has been damaged by a fire.
In a post on social media, the authority calls the incident “heartbreaking.”
Hamilton fire officials received reports of the fire shortly before 7:15 p.m. on Monday night.
Crew members attended the scene to extinguish the flames, but not before some of the wooden bridge structure sustained damage.
The HCA says the bridge will now be closed for investigation and restoration efforts.
Due to safety concerns, the lookout tower has been removed from the Valens Lake Conservation area.
