Hazel McCallion state funeral scheduled for Feb. 14

The government of Ontario has scheduled Hazel McCallion’s state funeral for Feb. 14, inviting the public to attend.
The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. at the Paramount Fine Foods Centre, located at 5500 Rose Cherry Place in Mississauga. There will be limited seating available for members of the public who wish to attend.

Ontario Premier Doug Ford will be in attendance alongside McCallion’s family, and current Mayor of Mississauga, Bonnie Crombie.
McCallion died on Jan. 29 at the age of 101. She served 12 consecutive terms as Mayor of Mississauga and a condolence book is available to sign at Mississauga City Hall.

Crombie invites the public to visit McCallion as she lies in repose at Mississauga City Hall on Feb. 12 and 13.
The funeral will also be livestreamed on the Government of Ontario’s YouTube channel for those who are unable to attend in-person, as well as livestreamed at the Living Arts Centre, located at 4141 Living Arts Dr. in Mississauga.
The provincial government says flags will be flown at half-mast across Ontario on the day of the funeral.
