Hamilton’s YWCA finishes renovations to Carole Anne’s Place

YWCA Hamilton has a newly-renovated overnight drop-in centre for women and gender-diverse people called Carole Anne’s Place.
Carole Anne’s Place provides women and gender-diverse people with access to meals and basic necessities like showers and low-barrier reproductive and sexual healthcare.
They also provide harm reduction services such as a safe space to use drugs from
10 p.m. to 9 a.m. and shelter referrals.
CHCH News reported earlier this year that Hamilton YWCA was in the midst of these renovations, which started last December.

Carole Anne’s Place started as a pilot program back in 2016 aimed to house women and gender-diverse people during the winter months.
However, it has grown into a permanent program to accommodate the growing needs of the community.
The newly-renovated shelter on 75 MacNab St. South is having an opening event from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Friday.
The event includes tours of the new space, remarks and a ribbon cutting with YWCA Hamilton’s CEO Medora Uppal.
