Hamilton’s ‘The Cannon’ temporarily reopens after being hit by car

The Cannon coffee shop on 180 Ottawa St. North has temporarily reopened after a car crashed into the front of the store on Thursday morning.
Jessica Brand, Hamilton’s regional manager, says her team will be able to navigate repairs to the shop relatively quickly.
The Cannon told CHCH News that they will be open on Friday from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. for takeout drinks and retail. The kitchen and baking will remain closed.
Thursday’s crash was the second time a car drove into the store. The first was in 2020.

Comments on The Cannon’s Instagram post show multiple people are concerned with the safety of the intersection due to things like drivers speeding and not paying attention to the roads.
Brand says her team is also working on improving traffic and pedestrian safety in the area.
“We’ll be looking at ways to prevent a similar situation in the future and try to improve pedestrian safety,” Brand says.
CHCH News reached out to Hamilton police, who say they are still investigating this incident.
