Hamilton’s Claremont Access fully reopens

The City of Hamilton says all lanes of the Claremont Access will reopen Thursday afternoon following an eight-month closure.
Drivers will be able to travel down the escarpment from Inverness Avenue East to Main Street East as of 12 p.m.
The downbound lanes were closed in March after consultants noticed one of the escarpment barriers was failing. Work has been underway since then to deal with erosion and concerns about the slope’s stability.
A statement from the city says the escarpment rock face has been scaled and made safe, and the cleanup has been completed.
