A landmark restaurant found in Hamilton’s downtown core is closing it’s doors after 55 years of service for the second time in months.

The restaurant located on King Street in Hamilton’s International Village announced it’s second closure Tuesday night on posts on social media saying it was closing permanently due to “unforeseen financial challenges”.

The posts reads that it will be unable to move forward with it’s plans to reopen at this time.

The second closure announcement was made after the restaurant planned to reopen the business in waves starting with offering take-out and delivery services earlier in October.

The restaurant posted last Thursday due to technical issues with their point-of-sales system that the take-out and delivery services were delayed until the announcement made Tuesday night.

The investment management group Forge and Foster bought the restaurant in December 2016 and the building has seen multiple seasons of renovations since.

The corporations that own the building and the restaurant went into receivership in March and was closed “temporarily” since July.
