Hamilton set a record for the hottest Feb. 15, ever on record, destroying the previous high from 2006.

There wasn’t a lot of sun in Hamilton today, but it didn’t matter. The mercury still climbed to 15 degrees shattering the previous high of 12.2 degrees 17 years ago.

As hot as today was in Hamilton it got even warmer in Vineland, at 16 degrees which made the top spot in all of Canada.

Dave Phillips with Environment Canada says we can thank a warm front from the south for the balmy weather but he says it’s not going to last because of a cold front from the north.

“When you get warm air duking it out with cold air you get weather wars and often while that is played out is strong winds,” Phillips said.

That battle of wind caused some damage at Bayfront Park in Hamilton, shattering one of the glass light standards.

Despite the wind which gusted up to 80 kilometres an hour people were out enjoying the warm February weather.
