Hamilton private tutor wanted for sexual assaults against children

A 67-year-old private tutor from Hamilton is wanted by York Regional Police in connection with multiple sexual assaults on children.
Alistair Martin-Smith, 67, of Hamilton is charged with three counts of sexual assault and three counts of sexual interference.
A warrant has been issued for his arrest.
Police received two reports last week from parents saying their children were assaulted during private tutoring sessions.
Investigating officers determined that both families had hired the same man to provide lessons to their children in their homes in Richmond Hill.
All three victims were under the age of 16.
Police have been unable to locate the suspect and believe he may have left the country.

Investigators believe that there may be more victims and anyone with information about this investigation is asked to call the York Regional Police Special Victims Unit at 1-866-876-5423, ext. 7071.
Martin-Smith faced the loss of his teaching license in 2016 after not disclosing to the York Region District School Board that he had previous child pornography convictions.
In 2007, he was convicted of one count of taking an indecent photograph and 14 counts of making indecent photographs of children relating to the images he had downloaded from the Internet.
The Ontario College of Teachers Discipline Committee found Alistair Martin-Smith guilty of misconduct when he failed to disclose these criminal convictions relating to child pornography.
