Hamilton police seek suspect in stabbing at Central Park encampment

Hamilton police are searching for the suspect in a stabbing at an encampment in Central Park last weekend.
Officers were called around 6:30 p.m. Sunday to the park located at 168 Bay St. North for reports of an assault.
Investigators learned that a 34-year-old man was stabbed with a machete during a fight with another person.

Paramedics transported the man to hospital, but he has since been released.
“While this incident is deeply concerning, it is an isolated incident, and there is no immediate threat to the public,” Hamilton police said in a press release.
The force says it will continue to patrol Central Park and surrounding areas.
