Hamilton police seek man after mosque broken into Saturday night

Hamilton police are asking for the public’s help in identifying a man who allegedly broke into a mosque last weekend.

Officers say a man forced his way into Ibrahim Jame Mosque at 778 King St. East around 2 a.m. on Saturday.

Police say he stole a small amount of items before running away from the scene.

“At this time, it is not believed to be hate-motivated,” Hamilton Police Service spokesperson Jackie Penman said in an email.

The white man was last seen wearing a grey hooded jacket, blue jeans and winter boots.
