Hamilton police investigate shooting involving wanted federal offender

Hamilton police are investigating a shooting on Sunday that resulted in a wanted federal offender sustaining a gunshot wound.

Investigators say that around 11 a.m. Sunday officers responded to the area of King St. East and Owen Place after receiving a report of a victim walking into a local hospital with a gunshot in their leg.

At this time, the shooting is believed to be a targeted incident.

During the investigation, police learned that the victim was a federal offender wanted on an outstanding warrant.

Following the discovery, the offender was arrested and returned to custody.
