Hamilton police identify 62-year-old victim of Herkimer St. homicide

Police have identified 62-year-old Jacquelyne Buckle as the victim of Monday evening’s homicide in downtown Hamilton.

Emergency crews responded shortly after 5 p.m. to a mid-rise building on Herkimer St. between Park St. South and MacNab St. South for reports of a disturbance.

Officers arrived to find Jacquelyne without vital signs. Paramedics transported her to hospital, where she later died.

Investigators arrested her 34-year-old son, Daryl Buckle. He has been charged with first-degree murder and appeared in court early Tuesday morning.

Police remain at the scene and are not searching for additional victims in connection with this case.

The family of Jacquelyne is remembering her as a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, coworker and friend “who will be greatly missed by everyone who loved her.”

Jacquelyne was retired after working for the City of Hamilton for 35 years.
