Hamilton police charge a youth worker for alleged sexual exploitation

Hamilton police have arrested a youth worker that allegedly sexually exploited and assaulted a young person under their care.

Officers received a report from a young person of an incident of sexual exploitation. The report alleges that someone in a position of authority in charge of youth as part of their employment, had sexually exploited and assaulted the young person.

Police arrested of Scott Shewfelt from Dunnville on Wednesday and have charged him for sexual assault and exploitation.

Shewfelt is scheduled to appear in court Oct. 10.

Detectives confirm that Shewfelt is a youth worker, and believe that there may be more victims of sexual exploitation.
