Members of Liberty for Youth, a charity in Hamilton, are lacing up their shoes to run and raise money for at-risk youth.

The non-profit is setting out to raise $300,000 for its pandemic recovery plan.

Liberty for Youth started this fundraiser in 2016, but this year it’s different. It’s called the Recovery Run for Youth.

Frederick Dryden started Liberty for Youth back in 2004. It provides prevention, intervention and mentorship programs for Hamilton’s youth aged 12 to 25. So far, they have helped over 900 people.

Hamilton’s chief of police said this is an important conversation to have with a rise in youth violence lately.

After a donation from the McKeil Family Foundation Wednesday, they now have $100,000 dollars so far.
