Hamilton’s first homicide victim of year has been identified as Nathan Miller of Toronto. The 20-year old was shot multiple times Thursday night at a home on Madison Avenue near Cannon Street. Police are looking for five suspects.

Armed officers and the K-9 unit searched the area around 28 Madison Avenue after 20-year old Nathan Miller was shot to death.

Hamilton police say five men were allowed into the house Thursday evening when one of them pulled out a gun, firing at Miller multiple times before fleeing.

The murder has some residents on edge.

“Kind of a little scared considering I have a 5-year old that goes to school down the street and I have a two year old. So, kind of scary.”

Officers went door to door, canvassing for witnesses.

Police are looking for 5 men. They describe the suspected shooter as a black man, 25 to 30-years old with a stocky build. He’s about 6 feet tall and was wearing a black jacket.

Neighbours tell us the people that live here keep to themselves and that this is a known drug house — one they say police visit quite frequently.”

“Well, all I know is the house is basically a lot of crack heads. It’s a crack house. That’s all I know about it and I see people going in and out of there.”

“Every time, there is police there. Every time. So I’m not surprised.”

But police say they don’t visit the home any more than they do with other residences.

Nobody else was injured in the shooting.

The suspects names have not been released. Hamilton’s homicide unit says Toronto police are working with them to provide assistance. Anyone with information is asked to call police or Crime Stoppers.
